Meet the Fishers! Garrett and Kristin purchased their home on Park Lane Drive in 2015 from the original owners, who built it in 1972. They moved in when their oldest son, Cavan, was almost 2 years old, & son Kole was only 1 month old! Daughter Quinn arrived a few years later. Kristin & Garrett grew up in Westerville & started dating in high school.
Garrett received a bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University and has continued his education, receiving his master’s degree this year from the American College of Education. He has worked for Pickerington Schools for 10 years & is now the Dean of Students at Lakeview Jr. High.
Kristin moved to New York for college at the University at Buffalo, where she double majored in dance and physiology. She quickly put her dance skills to work, touring with Sesame Street Live for 3 years before moving back home to earn her master’s degree in occupational therapy from OSU. She has been with Nationwide Children’s Hospital for 10 years, currently working in hand therapy.
The Fishers love that Minerva Park is a quaint village with a strong community feel & like that the schools are in the neighborhood. This is the first year all 3 kids are attending Minerva France together!
The family stays active & loves spending time outdoors and with extended family. They enjoy yearly trips to Norris Lake & Ocean Isle Beach. The boys stay busy with swimming, soccer, baseball, football, & archery, and Quinn started dance this year.
Garrett stays active as the coach for Denison University’s women’s rugby team. He played rugby in college & has been coaching for over 15 years! He is also a U18 coach for USA Rugby Pathways, which took his team and family on a trip to New Zealand this summer!
Fun facts: During Kristin’s time with Sesame Street Live, she played a variety of characters, but mainly Rosita. She would have played all the characters, but she was too tall for Elmo and too short to be Big Bird! Garrett has coached many great rugby players, including Ilona Maher, a 2024 Olympic bronze medalist, who was once part of his USA Rugby Pathway team.
Before they were married, Kristin and Garrett traveled to Ireland as part of a group with Kristin’s master’s program. Years later, they named their son Cavan after a city in Ireland. In 2019, the family had the opportunity to travel to Ireland again for rugby, and Cavan was able to see his name everywhere!
